Dr. Wilson, who heads the Nutritional Balancing program, has developed a "free" nutritional balancing protocol. However, it is only free in the sense that it doesn't require the cost of a nutritional balancing practitioner. There is still the cost of nutritional supplements and some recommended therapies. Depending on how you currently eat, the recommended diet may cost more or less than what you already spend. This is why we are calling it the Self-Guided Natural Wellness Program.
We have done our best to summarize Dr. Wilson's free diet and supplement protocol while adding our own comments and expanding the lifestyle suggestions. Since this is only a summary of his program, we encourage you to visit his page to get all the details so you can follow it correctly.

A Word about Holistic Wellness
We want to open with the comment that we believe wellness starts within, that our spiritual and mental well being often determine the state of our physical well being. Our internal world develops a template that our physical body is built around, and wellness requires a quality template. If our template is in poor order, we need to make inner changes if we want to see lasting wellness results.
There is a physical factor too, however. We live in a shared world where the decisions of other people impact us. So environmental toxins, genetically modified foods, lack of nutrients in our food, etc. can alter the physical body that is built around the inner template.
This is why we feel that true wellness involves seeking, learning, changing, and improving oneself (and thus the inner template) while also providing the kind of physical cleansing and nourishment that allows for a quality body to be built around the template.
Often, though, we have become so physically depleted that we don't have the energy to make the needed inner changes. This is why nutritional balancing can make such a difference. The cleansing and nutrients allow the physical body to begin healing itself and recovering its energy, which in turn allows you the opportunity to begin the inner journey.
And honestly ... the inner journey has often begun by the time you've decided to commit yourself to a program like this.

A Word about Children & Pregnant Women
We believe that children and pregnant women will benefit from the recommended diet. Beyond that, Dr. Wilson makes different recommendations for children. To be on the safe side, we recommend that you work with your health care practitioner when making decisions for children and pregnant women regarding these or other health protocols.
The Basics of the Diet
- 70% cooked vegetables (avoid nightshades including potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant; the full protocol recommends minimizing some others as well)
- 15% protein, mainly animal protein (not more than 4 ounces of dairy per day, and dairy is not required); avoid all pig products
- 10% complex carbohydrates (starches such as whole grains)
- 5% fats and oils
- 0% simple carbohydrates (fruit, fruit juices, sugars and other sweets); the only fruit allowed is up to 4 olives per week (black olives are best)
- 0% chemical-laden and refined foods
Eat at least 3 meals a day and rotate what you eat. You can eat more than 3 times a day, but don't graze all day, as this is difficult on digestion. Eat organic food when you can, but in any case eat only natural foods. Chew slowly and thoroughly, and try to avoid combining foods. The simpler your meals, the better.
AVOID: all pig products (ham, pork, bacon, and lard), all soy products, all nuts and seeds except almond butter), spirulina, all algae products, protein powders, and meal replacements. Also avoid hard-cooked eggs, such as hard-boiled eggs, quiche and omelets. Also avoid all processed meats and American cheese or "cheese food." Also avoid organ meats, as they are toxic with heavy metals, unfortunately.
Nutritional Supplements
The following are the supplements recommended for everyone on this protocol. We have linked to the best values we could find on Amazon that satisfy the requirements.
We have also added versions labeled "Endo-Met" supplements from Analytical Research Labs. These are the supplements used in the true nutritional balancing program, so if you want to match that program as well as possible, we recommend those listed below.

General Lifestyle
Dr. Wilson makes many recommendations regarding lifestyle. Among these, reducing stress and getting adequate sleep; exercising gently; getting at least 10-20 minutes of sun exposure each day, but avoiding excess and avoiding sunscreens (which are toxic); and avoiding toxic exposure whenever possible (by using natural products on your body, avoiding toxic lawn care, etc.)
His whole list can be found on his protocol page, but this is a good start.

Detoxification
Besides the diet and supplements, Dr. Wilson strongly believes in the following detoxification and wellness procedures:
1) Near Infared Sauna Therapy: this can be an inexpensive way to detoxify the body if you build your own infrared sauna with near infrared lamps. We also link to a quality option for purchase if you prefer. Instructions for use are on the linked page, but this is something to do daily, usually in conjunction with a space heater to generate a good sweat.
2) Coffee Enemas: while this isn't a common therapy in our society so we're not used to the idea, coffee enemas have a wide range of benefits that you can read about on Dr. Wilson's site. These include cleaning the colon, removing toxins and parasites, improving energy and digestion, improving the skin, and much more. You can learn how this is done and where to buy the kits on our coffee enemas page.
3) Reflexology: Dr. Wilson suggests rubbing the feet once or twice daily, including pulling the toes and twisting them gently back and forth a few times. He says this not only relaxes the body but also helps with toxin elimination and improves certain symptoms. We have found it useful to use a machine to do this work (though it doesn't pull the toes); a machine doesn't get tired and is easy to use while you're reading or paying attention to something else, even chatting with someone else. So it helps eliminate the excuse that you don't have time or someone to massage your feet.
This is similar to the model we use, and is made by the same company. Highly recommended by us and well reviewed on Amazon.
4) Spinal Twist: Dr. Wilson devotes an entire article to this, and we can't do it justice in a summary.
5) Pushing Down Exercise: this is a mental exercise and is the only one Dr. Wilson recommends. It is a kind of meditation. You can read about it here.
